CURRENT RESEARCH
US MIDLIFE MORTALITY
Building on my work on the Russian mortality crisis, I am now doing research on the US midlife mortality crisis in a county in Northern Arizona. This research is funded by the National Science Foundation (1658528).
SURVEILLANCE AND ETHICS IN GLOBAL HEALTH
In this project I am using a perinatal healthcare surveillance project run in Afghanistan in the early 2000s to illustrate broader lessons about surveillance in global health and the possibilities of an ethics for global health donors.

I have used Russian and US data to write about loneliness and its embodied, social, and environmental dimensions.
